Allie Stack, born in southern Connecticut, is currently a practicing potter in Portland, Maine and is a BFA candidate for the Maine College of Art in 2016. Growing up with parents as avid gardeners, Stack emphasizes the importance of buying local as well as the farm-to-table movement within her pottery. Her ceramic vessels discuss the object as a vehicle for presentation and celebration within the home. Her work is inspired by daily settings and activities such as cooking, gardening, organizing and arranging. The Mingei Movement, Arts and Crafts Movement, and the Shaker Movement begin to inform the work conceptually while objects like the bento box influence the work visually. Stack has participated in a number of group shows during her time at the Maine College of Art, such as the Senior Ceramic show and the Art of Work.
